What You'll Need:

  • 1½ Sweet Potato(chopped into a million pieces)
  • 1 Butternut Squash (as above)
  • 1 Medium Brown Onion (diced)
  • 2 medium red Chillies (chopped and also optional)
  • 1tsp of Olive Oil (or other preferred)
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • A few handfuls of Basil (I have a plant growing in my kitchen so I used fresh)
  • A pinch of Salt
  • 750ml of Water combined with 1 Vegetable stock cube
  • 250ml of Milk (I used semi-skimmed)
  • A food processor or hand blender

What You Need To Do:
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan then add the onion and garlic until translucent.
  2. Continue then by adding the diced squash and sweet potato and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the salt, stock, milk ,basil and chillies then bring to the boil and simmer for 20-25 minutes (depending on the size of your chunks you may need less or more time)
  4. Blend the vegetable mixture until no more lumps can be seen, as we want this as smooth as possible.

You're now ready to tuck in, or if you prefer empty the soup into a container and freeze for another day!

Let me know what you think guys, I had a lot of fun making this and am looking forward to my next soupy adventure!

DESERT ISLAND DUO

You're stranded on a desert island, what two beauty items do you have with you?
Last week I discovered two items that I can now say will always find a place in my makeup bag.
The Carmex moisturizing lip balm and Maybelline New York's Dream Fresh BB Cream.

I suffer from the occasional bout of eczema from time to time from legs, elbows, arms and even my face. I even get it around my lips once in a blue moon. This past week has been one of those weeks were I wake up with burning lips, reach for the lip balm and moisturizer and try to calm this episode down. My strawberry chapstick was making it worse and I was struggling to find a suitable replacement until the nice lady in Boots recommended a little pot of Carmex, now I don't know anything about this brand or product but what I can tell you is that it instantly soothed my chapped lips with a lovely menthol feeling and it lasts for a fair amount of time.
The little pot now lives by my side.

Why the Maybelline BB cream?
I chose this product because I was getting bored of my old one, the Garnier Skin Perfector. I think I was just kidding my self that it was evening my skin tone out and doing me any good.
It was a bit of a gamble buying the Maybelling BB cream because I had never used it previously and have never read any reviews, I can say I am thoroughly impressed with it.

It doesn't look caked on which is a big thing for me, I am quite low maintenance with my everyday look.
It lifts my under eye dark circles a few shades without using concealer, it's so easy to put on, so easy you could probably do it in the dark (handy for those winter mornings).
I LOVE this BB cream and highly recommend it if you have trouble getting an even complexion and don't use full face primers.
